Location: 9 Turner Close, Bridgwater, Somerset, TA6 3PA

Description

The West Country branch organises work groups, which undertake many varied works on and around the Somerset's waterways.

Primarily our activities are focused on the 15 mile long Bridgwater and Taunton Canal and its environs.

Our group takes a pride in helping to promote this waterway as a thriving environmental corridor between these two major towns.

We undertake hedge laying, foliage trimming, planting of various plants, seeds and bulbs and removal of litter and rubbish from the towpath and canal.

We also carry out painting of some of the lock gates, bridges, associated machinery and other structures along the route of the canal.

Having access to two workboats we can facilitate training to become deck hands. We are also able to offer training in the safe use of hand tools and motorised equipment. All protective equipment and clothing is supplied.

We try to engage in a social way with our volunteers and plan some social events. Anyone can join us and after initial risk assessment become a member of our friendly and professional volunteer teams.
