Come and work for wildlife with the East Poldens Conservation Volunteers. This small, friendly group works with the Reserves Manager on a variety of practical habitat management tasks at nature reserves in South Somerset. You will meet like-minded people and learn new skills while working in the beautiful Polden Hills. There will be a short introduction to the reserve and the work at the start of each task.
We aim to meet at 10.20am and finish at 3.30pm but all help, for however long, is welcome. There can be up to half a mile walk from car parking to work site.
Why volunteer? Here's what some of our volunteers say:
"I've always been a countryside person, and I love being among the flowers and the butterflies, though I'm not a specialist"
"It's important to help, it makes you feel good about yourself. And I'm learning about new things"
"Companionship, being outdoors, enjoyment of wildlife, and being practical"
"I feel passionate about the landscape, the use of land, and how food and wildlife link together. I couldn't just sit back and do nothing"
"I can see I've achieved something."
